something funny and lighthearted

For whatever reason I was just thinking that I have not heard or experienced anything really funny lately.  You know, a good joke or something that caused a great deal of laughter.  After I was thinking about this, I was reminded of the Proverbs, which say, “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones” (Proverbs 17.22).

On one hand, it is amazing how laughter and a joyful heart is like a good medicine to the soul.  On the other hand, it is amazing how bad moods, feelings, hopelessness and despair can really crush a person.

With that I have two things.  One, we need to be reminded that we have to encourage and support one another when we are down and broken.  Two, if anyone has a good joke or a funny story, I would love to hear from you!

  1. Priscilla says:

    Here’s a joke for you:

A preacher was known for his incredibly long sermons. One day a man was sitting in the congregation while the preacher went on and on and on. In the middle of the sermon the man got up and left and then returned some time later, while the preacher still preached.
After the service, while the precher was shaking hands, the man came out of the church. The preacher inquired if everything was alright, since the man left and then returned. The man said, “Oh sure. I just left to get a haircut.” The preacher was upset and asked, “Why didn’t you do that before you came?” The man replied, “I didn’t need a haircut before the sermon started!”

    Laugh everyday!

So, It is funny that Priscilla shared that joke with you because our pastor in church this past week (in Lynchburg) shared the same joke.. Wow!
